Local Pet Parakeet, Patient Featured in Statewide Calendar

JOHNSTOWN — A photo and description of Jennie Lasher's pet parakeet "Pretty Bird" was selected to represent Community Health Center, of St. Mary's Healthcare and Nathan Littauer Hospital, in the "There's no place like home" 2013 calendar.  This calendar is distributed by the Home Care Association of New York State, and the contest highlighted on what being home means for the thousands of New Yorkers receiving homecare services.

This is the third year in a row that a nominee from CHC has been chosen, and the photo will appear in the month of July on the calendar.

Jennie says he is "good for her ego", because when she says "who's a pretty bird", he whistles at her. Her nurse states:  "CHC is very special to Jennie, because our services allow her to stay at home with her friend. Every time he whistles it brings a sparkle to her eye!"

The calendar was distributed in December throughout the state and sent to elected officials and their staff members.
